Threading shapes brows with a twisted cotton thread: no wax, no heat, no chemicals. Home Visit Beauty is a our home-visit beauty service that brings it to your hotel room, condo or home, for brows, upper lip and full face.
What eyebrow threading is
Threading removes hair with a single length of twisted cotton. The thread is rolled across the skin so that it catches a row of hairs and lifts them out at the follicle, one line at a time. Nothing is applied to the skin — no wax, no heat, no chemicals, no adhesive — and the only thing that touches you is the thread and the practitioner's hands.
That is the whole technique, and it is why it behaves so differently from waxing. It removes hair from the root, so regrowth takes weeks rather than days, but it takes nothing off the skin surface with it.
Why threading is hard to find in Bangkok
Search for eyebrow threading in Bangkok and something odd happens: the top results are not salons. They are a Reddit thread, a Facebook group post and a forum discussion, all of them people asking the same question. One poster puts it exactly right, that they are "mostly coming across places that does waxing".
There is a straightforward reason. Threading is a South Asian technique, carried to Bangkok by Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities. Thai salons overwhelmingly default to wax and tweezers, both of which are quicker to teach and need no specialised hand skill. So the technique exists here, but it clusters in a handful of neighbourhoods rather than on every high street.
Which is the whole point of a mobile service. Rather than working out which corner of Phahurat or Sukhumvit Plaza still has a threader, the threader comes to your room.
Threading or waxing for eyebrows?
Both shape brows, but the mechanics differ in ways that matter on the thin skin around your eyes. Threading lifts each hair with a twisted cotton thread and touches nothing else; waxing pulls a strip of hair and takes a layer of surface skin with it. That is why brows are usually threaded and larger areas are usually waxed.
Precision and shape control
Threading gives more precision than waxing for the three reasons below, all of which come from working one hair at a time.
- One row of hair at a time. We shape precisely without taking more than you want, so the arch comes out cleaner.
- The shape is agreed before anything is removed. Threading takes hair off in lines rather than in a strip, so the arch can be built gradually and checked as it goes. Taking less and looking again is always possible; putting hair back is not.
Skin sensitivity and regrowth
Threading treats sensitive skin differently from waxing, and regrowth behaves differently too. Both are set out below.
- Nothing touches the skin surface. A fresh length of thread is used for each client and goes in the bin afterwards, the same standard as how we keep a home visit hygienic for wax. Only the thread and the hair. That means no lifting, which is why threading is the safe option on retinoids or acne medication.
- No heat, no chemicals. If you have reacted to wax before, this is the switch to make.
- Little to no redness. Most clients are presentable immediately.
- Regrowth comes back soft. Hair removed at the follicle grows back with its natural tapered tip rather than the blunt edge shaving leaves, so it feels finer as it returns.
When waxing is the better call
Waxing beats threading in the situations below, which come down to area size and appointment speed.
- Large areas. Legs, back, arms. Threading them would take an hour where waxing at your hotel or home takes fifteen minutes.
- Very fine, pale hair that the thread struggles to grip.
- You want longer between visits. Wax regrowth tends to run a little slower on the body.
For brows the comparison is worth reading in full: threading or waxing for eyebrows puts the two side by side, and eyebrow waxing at home is the page for the wax route.
Does threading hurt?
It stings, briefly, and it is over quickly. Most people describe it as sharper than tweezing but far shorter, because a row of hairs comes away in one pass instead of one hair at a time. A brow shape is short and the sensation is only during the passes themselves — there is no lingering soreness afterwards the way there can be with wax.
- Expect the first pass to be the sharpest. The area has not been worked before and there is the most hair to take.
- It settles quickly. By the second or third pass the sensation has usually faded into the background.
- The upper lip is the tender one. If you are having lip and brows together, say which you would rather do first.
Tell the practitioner if it is too much. Threading can be paused between passes at any point, which is not true of a wax strip once it has been applied.
Your first time versus your fourth
The first appointment is the least comfortable one you will have. There is more hair, it is at its coarsest, and the follicles have never released before. By the third or fourth visit the regrowth is finer and less of it comes through at once, and it becomes mildly irritating rather than painful. Keeping to a regular rhythm is what produces that; letting it grow out fully between visits resets much of it.
Areas we thread
Three areas cover almost every booking. This is the short version; the detail is below.
| Area | Most often booked |
|---|---|
| Brows | On its own, or with the upper lip |
| Upper lip and chin | Usually with the brows, as one booking |
| Full face | The day before an event, not the morning of it |
Brows
The most common booking. Around ten minutes if the shape is already roughly right and just overgrown. If you want the shape changed rather than maintained, say so at the start, because that is a slower and more deliberate job.
Threading takes hair out a row at a time rather than one hair at a time, which is why the line comes out cleaner than tweezing and why it is the better tool for brows you are growing back out. The practitioner can lift only the strays and leave the developing shape alone — something wax cannot do, because wax commits to a line the moment it is pressed on.
Over-plucked brows from years ago can usually be improved, but not conjured. Where the follicle is still active the hair returns and the shape can be rebuilt over several appointments; where it is not, no technique brings it back. A practitioner who tells you otherwise on the first visit is guessing.
Upper lip and chin
Under five minutes for the lip alone. Chin and jawline hair is usually coarser and takes a little longer. The most common pairing we are asked for is brows and upper lip together, about fifteen minutes total.
Threading does not make the hair grow back darker or thicker. That belief comes from shaving, which cuts the shaft flat so the blunt end feels coarse as it regrows. Threading removes the whole hair from the follicle, so what returns is the same hair it always was, tapered at the tip.
Upper-lip growth is frequently hormonal rather than cosmetic — pregnancy, PCOS and some medications all change it. That is worth saying out loud because it changes the rebooking interval rather than the technique. Come with makeup on if you are going straight out afterwards; it is cleaned from the area before threading and reapplied after, and the practitioner would rather that than you arrive uncomfortable.
Full face
Brows, upper lip, cheeks, sideburns, chin and forehead peach fuzz, roughly thirty minutes. Worth doing in one visit if several areas are bothering you. Pairs naturally with facials at your hotel, though leave a day between the two rather than stacking them.
The order is deliberate: brows first while the skin is calm and the judgement matters most, then lip and chin, then the broad soft areas last. Doing the fine work first means the shape is decided before the face has had time to redden.
Expect the face to be pink for an hour or two afterwards, and plan around it. Full face is a poor choice on the morning of a wedding or an event, and a good one the day before. It is also the wrong pick if the skin is currently broken out, sunburnt or on a fresh course of acid or retinoid — say so when you book and the appointment can be reshaped rather than cancelled at the door.
How much does eyebrow threading cost in Bangkok?
Half the questions Google shows on this topic are about price, and Bangkok has one of the widest ranges of any city — a street stall and a studio brow artist are not selling the same ten minutes. We do not publish a rate card, and we are not going to guess at anyone else’s, so here is what actually separates the tiers.
| Where | What you are paying for |
|---|---|
| Market and street stalls | Speed, and no appointment. Variable hygiene, no consultation. |
| Booking-app salons | A discounted platform rate. You travel to them, in their slot. |
| Mall brow bars | Brand and air conditioning, a shaping consultation, often an upsell. |
| Studio brow specialists | A named artist, usually with lamination or tinting attached. |
| A home visit | The therapist’s time and the travel. You do not leave your room, and there is no call-out fee. |
What moves the number is the therapist’s time and skill, not the thread, which costs almost nothing. A ten-minute brow shape and a thirty-minute full face are different services at different prices. Message us on WhatsApp with the areas you want and we send the full quote back, usually within a few minutes. There is no call-out fee anywhere inside our Bangkok service area.
How a home visit works
A threading home visit works in the four stages below, from the first message to aftercare.
- Message us the areas you want. Brows, lip, chin, or full face, with a time window and your building or hotel name.
- Quote and confirm a slot. The quote covers the areas you named, and there is no call-out fee anywhere inside our Bangkok service area.
- The practitioner arrives and sets up. Threading needs almost nothing from the room — a chair, and good light.
- The shape is agreed, then the work starts. Brows are quick; a full face takes noticeably longer.
- Payment at the end, in cash. Nothing is taken up front.
The whole process is covered in more detail, including what happens if your building has visitor rules, in our guide to the home visit.
What the beautician brings
The beautician brings everything the appointment needs, and the list below is what arrives with them.
- A fresh length of thread per client, used once and binned in front of you.
- Antiseptic wipes and a soothing gel for immediately after.
- Good task lighting, because hotel-room lighting is rarely adequate for shaping.
- A waste bag. Everything used leaves with the practitioner.
How long it lasts, and aftercare
Threading cadence runs a little faster than waxing because the hair comes away cleanly at the follicle. Three rhythms cover almost everyone:
- Every 2 weeks. Brows always look freshly shaped. Common with long-stay hotel guests.
- Every 3 to 4 weeks. The usual choice. Tidy without becoming a standing appointment.
- Every 6 weeks. Fine if you are relaxed about regrowth, but expect a softer arch by the end.
Aftercare is short. Leave the area alone for the rest of the day: no makeup over it, no scrubs, no sun bed, and skip the pool for twenty-four hours. A cool compress helps if the skin is pink. That is genuinely all of it.
If you break out afterwards
Small raised bumps in the hours after threading are the follicles reacting and usually settle overnight. Keep the area clean, leave it unmade-up, and do not pick at it. If instead you see spreading redness, swelling that worsens rather than fades, or anything weeping, that is not ordinary post-threading irritation and is worth showing to a doctor rather than treating at home. Tell us at booking if your skin reacts easily, and if you are on retinoids or acne medication, since that changes what we recommend.
We cover every district, including threading in Sukhumvit. Tell us your usual cadence when we finish and we will suggest the next slot.

Questions
Before you book
How much is eyebrow threading in Bangkok?
It varies more than almost any beauty service in Bangkok, from under a hundred baht at a market stall to well over a thousand at a mall brow bar. Home Visit Beauty quotes the full price on WhatsApp before your appointment, with no travel charge inside our service area. That spread reflects rent and branding far more than skill, which is why comparing headline figures across Bangkok tells you very little. What matters is whether the person threading has done a lot of it, since it is a technique that takes years to do quickly and cleanly.
Is threading good for your eyebrows?
Yes. Threading removes hair from the follicle without touching the skin surface, so there is no lifting or chemical contact. That makes it gentler than waxing on the thin skin around the eye, and it gives a cleaner arch because hairs come out one row at a time. It also suits anyone growing brows back out, because the practitioner can take only the strays and leave the shape developing rather than committing to a line. Tell them what you are working towards rather than only what you want removed today.
Can you get your eyebrows threaded in Thailand?
Yes, though it is genuinely harder to find than waxing. Threading is a South Asian technique and most Thai salons default to wax or tweezers. Home Visit Beauty brings a trained threading therapist to your hotel or home anywhere in Bangkok, which sidesteps the search entirely. If you have had brows threaded regularly elsewhere, bring a photo of them at their best. It communicates a shape far faster than a description and gives the practitioner a reference point rather than a starting guess.
Is threading better than waxing for eyebrows?
For brows, usually yes. Threading shapes precisely and is gentler on delicate eye-area skin than wax. For large areas like legs or back, waxing is faster and more comfortable. Home Visit Beauty offers both in Bangkok, so you can switch at the next appointment. There is no cost to alternating either: nothing carries over between methods, so you can thread the brows and wax the legs in the same visit. Skin on retinol or acids is the one case where threading is clearly the safer choice on the face.
How does threading compare with waxing for pain?
There is a light, quick stinging sensation, sharper than tweezing but over much faster. It is usually less than people expect. A brow shape takes five to ten minutes end to end, and any redness usually settles within the hour. Holding the skin taut yourself when asked genuinely reduces it, since the pull is against tension rather than loose skin. If you are particularly sensitive, say so and the practitioner will work in shorter passes with a pause between them.
Can I have threading if I use retinol or acne medication?
Usually yes, and this is the main reason people switch. Waxing lifts the top layer of skin, which is why it is discouraged on retinoids or acne medication. Threading does not touch the skin surface. Tell your Bangkok therapist what you are using and she will check the area first. A prescribed acne treatment needs a longer conversation than a retinol serum does, so mention the specific product rather than the category. If the skin looks compromised on the day, the practitioner will say so and reschedule rather than proceed.
How long does eyebrow threading take?
About five to ten minutes for brows alone, fifteen for brows and upper lip together, and around thirty minutes for a full face. Add a few minutes at the start while we set up in your room. Most Bangkok appointments are done inside the half hour. That makes threading one of the easier things to fit into a busy day, and it is why it is so often added to another booking rather than made a trip of its own. If you want brows and a facial, book the facial first and thread a day or two later.
Will threading make my upper lip hair grow back darker?
No. That belief comes from shaving, which cuts the hair shaft flat so the blunt regrowth feels coarse against the skin. Threading removes the whole hair from the follicle, so what grows back is the same hair it always was, tapered at the tip. Upper-lip growth that genuinely changes over time is usually hormonal rather than caused by hair removal, and it shifts the rebooking interval rather than the method. Mention it if it has changed recently.
Can threading fix brows I over-plucked years ago?
Often it improves them, and it will not conjure hair that is gone. Where the follicle is still active the hair returns and the shape can be rebuilt across several appointments by taking only the strays and leaving everything else to grow. Where the follicle has closed, no technique brings it back. Threading is the better tool for the rebuild because it removes a row at a time and can leave a developing shape alone, which wax cannot do. Anyone promising a full restoration at the first appointment is guessing.
Which areas does full-face threading cover, and will I be red?
Brows, upper lip, cheeks, sideburns, chin and forehead peach fuzz, in about thirty minutes. Expect the face to be pink for an hour or two afterwards, which is why full face is a poor choice on the morning of an event and a good one the day before. The order is deliberate: brows first while the skin is calm and the judgement matters, then lip and chin, then the broad soft areas last.
Can I be threaded while pregnant?
Ask your doctor first and tell us what they said. Nothing is absorbed and no chemicals are involved, which is the reason threading is often the method people move to during pregnancy. Skin is often more sensitive then, so the practitioner works in shorter passes and checks more often. Upper-lip and chin growth commonly increases during pregnancy and settles afterwards, so the interval between appointments may change even though the technique does not. Say you are pregnant when you book rather than on the day.
Do you thread men’s eyebrows?
Yes. Men’s brow threading is usually about tidying rather than reshaping, taking out the strays between the brows and under the arch while keeping the natural line. Home Visit Beauty threads men and women at hotels, condos and homes across Bangkok. The usual brief from men is that nobody should be able to tell it has been done, which is a reasonable ask and shapes how much comes off. Say if that is what you want, because the default for a first appointment is deliberately conservative either way.
