Pre-Beach Waxing Guide for Bangkok Trips
Short answer: wax 24–48 hours before the beach, not the same morning, so skin can settle before sun and salt water.
Timing, and what to book
Best timing
A day or two ahead is the sweet spot — freshly waxed skin is sensitive, and you’ll avoid irritation from sun, sand and swimwear.
What to book
A Brazilian or Hollywood — Brazilian and Hollywood styles both plus bikini waxing and underarms covers most swimwear. Going all-in? The full body package is best value.
After your wax
- Skip hot showers for the first day.
- Stay out of heavy sun — which matters more on a beach trip than anywhere else.
- Follow the aftercare tips for the days after.
We come to your hotel the day before you fly out — book on WhatsApp.
The plan
The day-by-day timeline that actually works
Bangkok → island trips tend to be 2-3 nights, with the waxing booked the evening before departure. Here’s the realistic sequence that avoids the common mistakes.
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| Day -2 | If you have time, split the waxing across two sessions — legs one day, top half the next. Lower trauma, smoother result. |
| Day -1 | The most common slot. Evenings between 18:00 and 22:00 are the pre-beach wave. |
- Day 0 (transfer day): morning flight to the islands. Skip sun, hot tubs, and exfoliation. Wear loose cotton and reapply SPF every 2 hours.
- Day 1 (beach day): the skin has settled, SPF is on, you’re good to go. Swim, snorkel, repeat.
- Day 2 onwards: back to normal. Maintain the wax with gentle exfoliation from day 3.
The pattern that doesn’t work: waxing the morning of the flight, sitting on a 4-hour flight in tight jeans, then hitting the beach. Sweat + friction + sun + salt water = ingrown hairs and breakouts.
If you are in Bangkok before the islands
Two or three nights in Bangkok and then a flight south is one of the most common shapes of trip in this market, and it makes the timing easier rather than harder. Wax on your second Bangkok day: it is far enough ahead that any redness has gone by the time you are on sand, and late enough that you are not still growing out when the beach days start.
Doing it in Bangkok also means doing it somewhere you have a room to yourself and a bathroom, which is not always true of an island guesthouse. If your flight south is early, book the afternoon before rather than the morning of — a rushed wax before a transfer is the one that goes wrong.
If the timing is tight, waxing at your hotel removes the travel from the equation, and how to prepare for waxing covers what to do the day before.
What to skip before the beach
Skip these in the days before a beach trip — freshly waxed skin and sun do not mix well.
- Skincare actives on freshly waxed skin — no retinol, AHA, BHA, vitamin C serum for 48 hours before and after. The combination with waxing sensitises skin to sun damage.
- Fake tan on freshly waxed skin — fake tan adheres unevenly to freshly waxed follicles. If you want a glow on the beach, do fake tan the day BEFORE the wax, not after.
- Hot baths or saunas for 24 hours after. Same logic as a normal post-wax: avoid heat for the first day.
- Tight underwear or jeans for the first 12 hours. Loose cotton shorts or a sarong while the skin settles.
What to pack (so you don’t have to think about it on the beach)
Pack these five things and a freshly waxed beach day needs no further thought.
- Aloe or fragrance-free moisturiser for any post-wax dryness.
- High-SPF sunscreen — the higher the better. Bangkok-sold sunscreens are widely available at 7-Eleven for hotel guests.
- A mild body wash — not the heavily-fragranced hotel one, which can sting freshly waxed skin.
- Loose cotton sleepwear for the first night post-wax.
If your trip is longer than a long weekend
For 7+ night trips, you may want to wax once during the trip. If you’re staying at a beach resort, we can sometimes arrange a cross-border appointment (Koh Samui and Phuket mostly) or suggest a trusted local. For two-week trips, plan two waxings: one before, one mid-trip.
Whichever plan fits the trip, nobody travels but us. Mobile waxing in Bangkok covers every area and all three wax types, at your hotel or condo, on the day you are still in the city.
