Bikini, Brazilian or Hollywood: what is actually removed
These three get used interchangeably and they are not the same treatment. Choosing the wrong one is the most common cause of a disappointing appointment, so here is the plain version.

You do not have to decide when you book. Your therapist asks at the start and you can go further or less far than planned. Many first-timers start with bikini or Brazilian and move to Hollywood at a later appointment, once they know how their skin reacts.
What "bikini line" actually means, with no surprises
A standard bikini wax clears what would show outside ordinary briefs: the top of the thigh and the line where the elastic sits. It does not go inside that line. If you wear high-cut swimwear or a thong, say so when you book, because an extended or high bikini is the better fit and takes a few minutes longer.
If you want more taken than that, you are describing a Brazilian, and it is worth saying so up front rather than adjusting halfway through.
The appointment
How long the appointment takes
An intimate waxing appointment takes different lengths by level, and the three below are the usual ranges.
- Setup: quick. Tools laid out, wax choice discussed, what is about to happen explained.
- The wax: longer for a Brazilian or Hollywood than a bikini, depending on hair density.
- After: cooling gel, aftercare, payment.
- Total: confirmed with your quote before you book, so you can plan around it.
Position and setup in a hotel room
The practical question nobody answers, and the reason some people hesitate about intimate waxing at home. It is simpler than expected.
- On the bed: on your back, knees bent, feet flat. The most common and the easiest to work with. We put our own protective cover down first, so nothing touches hotel linen.
- On the bathroom floor: a mat works well if the bed is unusually high or the room is tight.
- Standing, one foot raised: workable for a quick standard bikini only. Visibility is poorer, so we would not suggest it for a Brazilian.

Before your appointment
Let hair reach about a grain of rice, roughly 5mm, and keep skin clear of oils and creams on the day. No retinol, AHA or BHA on the area for 48 hours either side. Our waxing prep guide covers the detail, and the pre-beach guide helps with timing.
Afterwards: the first 48 hours
The first 48 hours after intimate waxing decide whether the skin settles cleanly, and these are the rules for them.
- Underwear: cotton not synthetic, loose not tight, dark if you have it. Fresh from the moment you put it on.
- Avoid pools, sea, sauna, gym and sex for 24 hours. Sweat and friction on open follicles cause most post-wax irritation.
- Ingrown hairs: common in this area whether you wax at a salon or at home. Exfoliate gently from day three and do not pick. Most resolve on their own.
- Regrowth: about two to three weeks before it shows. Every three to four weeks keeps it consistently tidy.

Pre-beach timing, the most common booking reason
Wax 24 to 48 hours before the beach, not the morning of. Freshly waxed skin, sun, salt water and friction are a poor combination, and a day of settling makes the difference. The pattern we see most: intimate waxing the evening before transfer, with legs and underarms if you want them, timed around checkout the next morning.

Is Brazilian Waxing a Thing in Thailand?
Yes, and it has been for years. Bangkok has dedicated waxing salons doing intimate work all day, and the question comes up on the search results for this treatment because visitors expect it to be a Western-only service. It is not. What differs is the vocabulary — "Hollywood" and "Brazilian" are used here the way they are elsewhere, but some salons use them the other way round, so it is worth confirming what is coming off rather than assuming the word means the same thing.
For a home visit the practical difference is that the appointment happens in your own room rather than a shared salon, which for a lot of people is the reason to book it here at all.
What Bangkok Waxing Threads Warn About
The recurring complaints in Bangkok waxing discussions are the same three, and they are worth reading before you book anywhere.
- Double dipping. The single most-repeated warning. One spatula, one pass, then it goes in the bin — a pot that has had a used spatula back in it has had everyone's appointment in it.
- Results that vary between visits. The standing complaint is not that a salon is bad but that it is inconsistent, which usually means whoever is on shift.
- Aftercare that is never mentioned. People report being sent off with no instructions at all, then getting bumps and blaming the wax.

Bikini tidies the line that shows outside underwear. Brazilian removes almost everything, usually leaving a strip. Hollywood removes all of it, front to back. How much is a bikini or Brazilian wax in Bangkok?
It depends which of the three you choose and whether you add other areas in the same visit. Home Visit Beauty quotes the full price on WhatsApp before your appointment, and there is no call-out or hotel charge anywhere inside our Bangkok service area. Adding another area to the same visit costs less than booking it separately, because the setup and the travel happen once. Is intimate waxing safe and hygienic at home?
Yes. Your therapist arrives with a sealed professional kit, uses a fresh disposable applicator for every stroke with no double dipping, and works to salon hygiene standards. We bring our own covered surface and take all used material away when we leave. Nothing is reused between clients and nothing is left in your room afterwards. If you would like to see the kit unwrapped in front of you before anything starts, ask: it is a reasonable thing to want and takes a few seconds.
What is the 48 hour rule for waxing?
No sun, swimming, sauna or heavy exercise for 48 hours after, and no exfoliating for 48 hours before. Freshly waxed follicles stay open and react badly to heat, chlorine and friction. In Bangkok humidity this matters more than it would in a cooler city. The 48 hours before matters as much as the 48 after, because exfoliating beforehand thins the surface layer and makes the wax lift skin rather than only hair. If a beach day or a flight is fixed, choose the appointment by working backwards from it.
Can I shave between bikini waxes?
Technically yes, but it resets the growth cycle and makes the next wax hurt more. Most bikini and Brazilian regulars in Bangkok stay on a three to four week rhythm and never shave between appointments. We come to your hotel, condo or home across the city. Shaving between waxes also means the regrowth arrives out of step with the rest, so the next appointment is patchier and less comfortable than it needed to be. Sticking to the rhythm is what makes each wax easier than the last, which is the whole return on doing it regularly.
Can I be waxed while on my period?
Yes, the procedure does not change and a tampon or cup is fine throughout. Some clients prefer to move the appointment away from their heaviest day purely for comfort, but it is not medically necessary and your therapist will not treat it as unusual. Skin can be slightly more sensitive in the days just before a period, so if you have a choice of dates and a low tolerance, the week after tends to be the more comfortable one. If you would rather not say anything, you do not have to.
What should I wear afterwards?
Cotton rather than synthetic, loose rather than tight, and dark if you have it, since any wax residue shows less. The area stays reactive for about a day. By the second or third day you can go back to whatever you normally wear without issue. Avoid a gym session, a pool or a long walk in the heat on the first day for the same reason: sweat and friction on open follicles are what cause bumps. An evening appointment means most of that first day passes while you are asleep.
Can I book same day before a beach trip?
Yes, and it is one of a common Bangkok booking. Message in the morning and we can usually reach you within a few hours. Aim for 24 to 48 hours before the beach rather than the same morning, so the skin has time to settle. Waxing the morning of a beach day is the single most common mistake we see, and sun, salt and sand on freshly opened follicles is exactly the combination to avoid. If your trip is tomorrow and you have left it late, say so and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth doing.
How long will a Brazilian wax last?
Three to four weeks for most people before it needs redoing, with regrowth first showing at around two to three weeks. Waxing takes the hair out at the root rather than cutting it at the surface, which is why the gap is measured in weeks rather than days. The exact figure depends on your own growth cycle more than on anything done in the appointment, and hair does not all grow on the same schedule, so the first regrowth is patchy rather than uniform. Booking on a regular rhythm rather than waiting for a full grow-out keeps each appointment shorter and the regrowth finer over time.
