Why men book home waxing (vs a walk-in salon)

The most common reason is privacy. The other reasons matter too.

• No waiting room, no front desk. Your hotel room is the appointment.
• One practitioner, one client. No other clients in the next chair.
• Discreet on arrival. We message from the lobby, not call out your name.
• No commute. The appointment happens where you already are.
• Same practitioner each time. If you book regularly, you get the same person — continuity matters for consistency.

The session

The wax we use on coarse body hair

Men’s body hair is thicker than women’s, and the choice of wax matters more than you’d think.

• Honey (natural) — our default for back, chest, legs. Strongest grip on coarse hair, so fewer passes, less post-wax redness.
• RICA — for sensitive areas: underarms, chest near the nipple, Brazilian. Lower-temperature liposoluble wax.
• Aloevera — for first-timers or anyone who’s had a stingy wax experience. Soothing in the formula.

You don’t have to choose in advance. We’ll suggest based on the area and your hair density when we arrive.

What to expect for the most common bookings

The most common men's bookings are the four below, each with its own timing and level of sensitivity.

• Back only — you lie face-down on the bed or couch; we work top to bottom in sections.
• Chest only — same position as the back, face-up. The chest area near the pec line is sensitive — we work slowly there.
• Back + chest combo — one session rather than two.
• Brazilian — section by section; you’ll feel every step. Read our men’s first Brazilian guide.
• Full body — a long session, with a short water break halfway.

Prep and aftercare for men

Prep and aftercare for men differ from the standard advice in the four ways below, mostly because of hair density.

• Hair length: 5mm minimum (a grain of rice). Longer is fine; we trim if needed.
• Skin: clean and dry. Skip body lotion or SPF on the day.
• After: no gym, sauna, hot shower or pool for 24 hours. Cotton t-shirts only, no tight collars on freshly waxed neck/shoulders. See full aftercare.

Privacy, and booking with someone else

Booking with a partner or friend

Many Thonglor and Silom clients book with a partner, a friend, or for both themselves and a colleague in the same building. The setup works for two people back-to-back with one practitioner.

• Time: one treatment after the other. Two people booked together lengthens the appointment, and the total is in your quote.
• Cost: standard per-treatment pricing. No couples surcharge.
• Discretion: the practitioner sees both of you, but one at a time. The other person leaves the room during each session — your call whether they pop out, sit in the next room, or in some cases stay (your choice; we don’t impose either way).

Privacy we specifically keep

Hotel and condo work tends to put us around professional reputation. A few things we do quietly and won’t mention on the marketing:

• We never take photos of clients. The photos you see on this site are stock until a real, consented client photo is available — which is when we’ll ask individually.
• We don’t log the names of the hotels we visit against our client database. No one outside the practitioner reads your booking.
• If a colleague or family member WhatsApps us asking if you’re home for a visit, we say: "we don’t share client information" — regardless of who is asking. Your privacy outweighs social niceties.
• We don’t post about being at a specific venue at a specific time. Our public content never references named hotels, buildings, or guests.

The questions men ask privately

The ones men don’t want to ask in a busy salon but feel comfortable WhatsApping late at night. These come up often enough that we list them openly here — others don’t need to read the answers if they don’t want to.

• "Can I ask the practitioner not to talk?" Yes. Some clients want conversation, others want quiet. We match you. Either is fine.
• "What if I get an erection during a Brazilian?" It’s a normal physiological response, not a sexual one. We work around it without comment.
• "Can I be waxed if I’m on my period?" Yes. Some prefer to reschedule around it for comfort, others don’t. We respect either.
• "Can I drink alcohol beforehand?" Light drinking is fine. Being drunk isn’t — it impairs your judgement of pain and reduces your hygiene cooperation. Don’t get drunk before.
• "Can I take a painkiller beforehand?" If you want to take something beforehand, ask a pharmacist — we do not advise on medication.

Areas, timings and what to expect

Each area takes a different amount of time and involves a different level of sensitivity. The table sets out all three per area.

Boyzilian (Male Brazilian)

Boyzilian is the male Brazilian — full intimate hair removal, and the term the Bangkok market uses for it. It is booked the same way as any other area, and the practical questions people ask before a first one are about position, discretion and how long it takes, not about the wax.

• What it covers — front, back and everything between, or front only if that is what you book. You say which when you book, not at the door.
• Which wax — hard wax throughout. It grips the hair rather than the skin, which is what matters on this area.
• Position — you will be asked to move a few times. We say so in advance rather than on the day.
• Hygiene — single-use spatulas, no double dipping, and the pot is not shared between clients.

How a Men's Appointment Runs, Step by Step

A men's appointment runs in six steps, and nothing about the arrival announces what it is for.

1. Message on arrival. No uniform, no branded bag, nothing that announces what the appointment is.
2. Set up in about five minutes: towels down, wax heating, everything laid out in view.
3. Confirm the areas and the order. Back and chest first if both are booked, intimate areas last.
4. Wax in sections, checking in between areas so you can say if something needs to slow down.
5. Go back over for strays, then apply aftercare and explain the 24-hour rules.
6. Take the waste away.
