The treatment runs in five steps, and on a first visit the patch test is step one.
- Patch test first on a first visit, behind the ear or on the jawline, then wait before going further.
- Cleanse the area, so the product works on skin rather than on sunscreen.
- Apply evenly to the agreed area, avoiding the eye area entirely.
- Time it, because this is the step where leaving it longer is not better.
- Remove and soothe, then explain the SPF advice, because treated skin is more sun-sensitive for a few days.
What facial bleach does

Facial bleach softens the look of fine facial hair and brightens for a more even, luminous finish. Often paired with a clean-up for the best result.
What facial bleach actually does
The treatment lifts fine vellus (peach-fuzz) hair from the skin’s surface, which scatters less light and creates a smoother, more even-toned look. Lifting the colour out of fine vellus hair is the whole of the effect, and it lasts about 2–3 weeks. It’s not a permanent depilatory — fine hair returns over the same growth cycle.
What it will not do
Worth saying plainly. Facial bleach does not:
- Remove hair.
- Lighten skin pigmentation.
- Fix acne marks or sun damage.
It evens the appearance of fine facial hair and gives a brighter surface finish. Anyone promising more than that is overselling it.

Bleach, threading or wax for facial hair?
These solve different problems and people mix them up.

Occasional mild pinkness settles within a few hours but you want the margin. And avoid it the same day as a face wax — one or the other, with a couple of days between.

Skip heavy sun for 24 hours, apply SPF daily, avoid retinols or exfoliating acids on the treated area for 48 hours. Most clients glow for 2–3 weeks; many book the day before an event rather than as a regular cycle.
How long the effect lasts
Two to three weeks on average. As the hair grows, the bleached section moves down and the new growth at the root shows darker. Most clients rebook at the three-week mark, often alongside a clean-up.

Many providers recommend postponing bleach treatments during pregnancy, partly because skin is more reactive and partly because there is limited evidence either way. Tell us when you book and threading will be offered instead, which removes the hair rather than lightening it and involves no product on the skin at all. If in doubt, ask your doctor first. We would rather move the booking than proceed. Say which stage you are at when you book.
Can I wear makeup afterwards?
Wait about thirty minutes for the skin to settle before applying anything. Freshly treated skin is warm and slightly open, and heavy foundation straight afterwards is the most common cause of small bumps the next morning. Mineral makeup is the gentler choice for the rest of that day because it sits on the surface. If this is before an event, booking a day ahead removes the question entirely. Is facial bleach the same as hair removal?
No, and the difference matters. Bleach lightens the hair so it is far less visible against your skin, but the hair stays where it is. Waxing and threading remove it. Bleach suits fine downy hair where removal would feel excessive, and it suits anyone who does not want regrowth stubble. It does not suit coarse or dark hair, where the result can look brassy rather than subtle. The practitioner will tell you which approach suits your hair rather than defaulting to what you asked for.
How often can it be repeated?
